National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test
I believe at a rank of 720 in NIMCET, being from General Category you have bleak chances in securing a seat in one of the 31 National Institute of Technology. The Total seats in MCA itself are around 850. However besides NITs there are many good GFTIs like BIT Mesra, State Universities and other institutes like PEC Chandigarh which offer MCA Courses. Do keep an eye on the counselling dates and procedure. For more infomation do follow the link below

Hi Muhammed!
Could you be more specific about your Reservation Category, so that i can provide you with precise information.
Greetings, Manali.
First of all congratulation on the rank. Regarding your query, with your rank and category you can definitely get admission into NITs based on past cut off trends: Some of the best NITs you can apply to are:
- NIT Suratkal
- NIT Allahabad
- NIT Calicut
- NIT Warangal (maybe not in the first round but chances are in subsequent rounds)
best of luck!
Hi Nikhil!
I hope you are aware that Hyderabad Central University has been accepting NIMCET Scores only from the year 2018. So, the data which we are expecting is not available. But NIMCET Scores are accepted by the NITs all over India. Below are some of the NITs where you can make through with your NIMCET rank:
Or, if you have attend JEE Mains and attained a rank, then let me know. We can check whether you'll make through Hyderabad Central University.
Hope this is helpful!
All the very best!
Dear student,
With the rank you have scored and seeing the previous year data you might get this college as you belong to EWS category also. But cutoff changes every year and it depends on the number of students applied and the how many students have qualified the exam.
There are only 40 seats in this college so you can give it a try.
Hope it Helps!
Good Luck
The only difference, and the most important one at that is, general category is obviously the one without any category reservation, so if their is seats for general category, means only general category students can apply, whereas open category is the one with all the categories combined like general category, SC,ST, OBC etc. so if there is seats for open category, ,means students from any category can apply.
As per your next question, your All India rank in Nimcet is really nice, and you do have good chances of getting in alot of government and private colleges. So my suggestion is, you should definitely wait for the counseling, and participate in that because you have chances of getting the best colleges.
Hope this helps you, Good Luck !!
Hello Aspirant,
By the term general rank I do not know whether you are saying it is your AIR or it is your general category rank . So assuming that you belong to general category your NIMCET rank is not enough for NITs. Based on the expected closing ranks the only possibilities are NIT, Agartala -662 and NIT, Raipur -639 but still as you can see your rank is over 700 so thee is only a low chance. You can give it a try , because sometimes last minute vacancies may show up based on the number of seats and number of applicants .
You may refer the below list to see other MCA colleges accepting NIMCET and try in those , with your rank you have a good option:

All the best
May be..
Your rank is too high to get a seat in NIT in the initial rounds. But you can try your luck in the spot round.
But you definitely get a seat in IPU/HBTU with this rank. Also, HBTU forms are still available.
hope it helps

See for NIMCET , the subjects you have:
Mathematics - 50 question Logical reasoning- 40 question Computer awareness-10 question General english- 20 questions Each correct question carry 4 marks and -1 is deducted for every wrong answers.
Now if you are from computer science student or if you have CS as General Elective then it won't be a problem. You just revise the stuff by going through the exam syllabus.
Now the maximum weightage goes to Mathematics. If you are strong mathematics then it won't be a prob for you. But if you are not then start with Mathematics and prepare all the topics of 10+2 very well and other topics as suggested in the syllabus.
Logical reasoning is also important in perspective of the examination. You can go through RS AGGARWAL book and practice the problems. This will increase you efficiency.
For English go through books such as SP BAKSHI which delivers you MCQ type of questions.
If you can give mock tests , which will increase you accuracy in exam stress situation.
#when you attempt the paper , use this way to attempt the sections. Its not mandatory but it just balances your mind. The steps are:
