Putluru Rohith from Anantapur, who wants to pursue MCA has fulfilled his dream by scoring 162 marks in AP ICET this year. He has secured Rank 3 and become a topper of the exam. His consistency and hard work helped him to crack the AP ICET exam in first attempt. He is a graduate of B.Sc (MECs) from Sri Vivekananda Degree College, Anantapur and secured 8.4 CGPA. His passions towards technology fascinated him to pursue MCA. In this article, careers360 is presenting a short interview of Putluru Rohith to know his preparation strategy, ambition and more.
Q. Congratulations on achieving such an outstanding score and rank in AP ICET! Could you please share your preparation strategy and techniques that helped you secure this remarkable result?
Rohith: I started preparation almost three months before the exam and mathematical ability was the most difficult section for me. So I started preparation with mathematical ability and then analytical ability and communication ability.
Q. Tell us about your academic background. What were your grades? What motivated you to pursue MCA?
Rohith: I completed my graduation in B.Sc(MECs) from Sri Vivekananda Degree College, Anantapur and secured 8.4 CGPA. Technology fascinates me a lot. I thought MCA suits my interest.
Q. What other MCA entrance exams did you take? Your percentile or score in these exams?
Rohith: I have not appeared in any entrance exam. AP ICET 2023 is the first MCA entrance test I have taken.
Q. How and when did you start, and for how much time you used to study in a day?
Rohith: I started AP ICET preparation three months before the exam and I used to study 3 hours a day.
Q. What do you say are the important topics and books for AP ICET preparation? (If possible list the topics from every section that cannot be skipped)
Rohith: According to me the most important topics are as follows:
Analytical Ability:-
Communication Ability:-
Mathematical Ability:-
Q. Did you join any coaching classes? What other resources did you find most helpful during your preparation? (e.g., books, online platforms, mock tests)
Rohith: No, I have not taken any coaching classes. During preparation, ICET related video classes on YouTube helped me a lot.
Q. What's you take on mock tests? What kind of mock tests did you take, and how helpful were they? When did you start taking mock tests?
Rohith: I took only one AP ICET mock test available on the website exactly one day before the exam to check my answering speed. But I believe that taking mock tests help to know your preparation level and it is important to practice mock tests regularly.
Q. Are there any specific subjects or sections of the MCA entrance exam that you found particularly challenging? How did you approach them during your preparation, and what advice would you give to other students struggling with those areas?
Rohith: According to me Mathematical Ability was a bit difficult and time consuming. To tackle this I used to practice more on this subject to answer the questions to improve my speed.
Q. What was your exam-taking strategy? How much time did you take to complete a section? Were there any specific topics or sections that you found challenging during the exam? Any tips for managing time in the exam, like how much time to be given to which section?
Rohith: My exam-taking strategy was to attempt less-time consuming topics first. So I started my exam from the 21st question which comes under analytical ability because questions 1 to 20 are very time consuming. It is better to try them at last. Remaining analytical ability questions should be completed in 45 minutes. It is good to give 45 minutes for communication ability.
Q. The AP ICET exam is known for its speed and time management requirements. How did you develop your speed and accuracy in answering questions within the given time limit?
Rohith: The AP ICET exam consists of 200 questions and students have to answer them in 150 minutes. Each question has to be answered in an average of 45 seconds, so it means your speed is important. I spend more time studying time consuming concepts to improve my speed which helped me to crack exam with good scores.
Q. With such an impressive score, you must have various options available for pursuing an MCA. Which colleges or institutes are you considering for your MCA, and what factors are you considering while making your decision?
Rohith: I am still not sure which college/university to attend for admission. I have shortlisted some Universities like Andhra University, JNTUK, JNTUA, SV University. The factors I am considering while getting admission in MCA are tuition and hostel fees, education quality, environment and hostel facilities.

Hi,
With a general rank of 13,964 and a local rank of 1,529 in bc-d category in au region, your chances of getting a seat in main campus universities like krishna university, acharya nagarjuna university, or adikavi nannaya university depend on the course demand. in 2nd counseling, seats sometimes open up in less-demanded specializations (like certain mba/mca branches), but popular courses may close earlier. i’d recommend filling as many preferred options as possible and also considering affiliated colleges to maximize your chance.

Thanks for asking and good luck in the next round.
Hello,
If your degree college Transfer Certificate (TC) has a clerical mistake in the caste category that the principal manually corrected, with the correction properly signed and stamped, it is usually deemed acceptable for the APICET counselling process, as long as there is no discrepancy between the caste listed on your official caste certificate and what appears on the TC.
Nonetheless, as counseling authorities frequently favor documents that are pristine and devoid of errors, it is highly advised that you have an affidavit detailing the clerical mistake and the rectification done, in addition to your original caste certificate provided by a qualified authority.
Moreover, if feasible, ask your degree college to provide a new corrected TC to prevent any avoidable issues during document verification. Acting in this manner will guarantee a seamless counselling process and reduce the likelihood of document denial.
Hope this helps. All the best!
